1434 Springfield Road,
Collingdale, PA 19023
Please join MLK365 and WURD Radio for a day of
volunteer service at historic Eden Cemetery.
Created in 1902, Eden Cemetery is
the first African American Cemetery in the United
States. Eden serves as the final resting place for
some of our country and region's most notable
African Americans, including opera legend
Marian Andersen, 19th-century Philadelphia
civil rights leader Octavius Catto,
and Christopher Perry, the founder
of the Philadelphia Tribune, the nation's oldest
continuously published African American newspaper.
To learn more about Eden Cemetery, visit
www.edencemetery.org.
Volunteers are needed to help beautify and maintain
this rich, historical site. On May 21, service
projects will include clearing brush, removing
litter, and painting the entrance gate. A picnic
lunch will be provided for all volunteers.
